MTV Asia Awards 2005

Hey! The annual MTV Asia Awards is going to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, after 3 years being held in Singapore. NEW nation. NEW environment. Will the surprises be NEW too? What's more, the host will be the 4-time Grammy Award winner --- Christina Aguilera! For the first time ever, she is going to land on South East Asia and kick the heat up!

The MTV Asia Awards 2005 was repositioned into MTV Asia Aid, a global benefit in support of the recovery efforts taking place in Asia, held on February the 4th at the IMPACT Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, which featured a host of artists from Asia and around the world, as more than 11,000 fans gathered to show their support for tsunami recovery efforts. Alicia Keys hosted the event (not Christina Aguilera), with the key message of the evening being to urge viewers to keep contributing to the relief and reconstruction efforts by supporting UNICEF and other charities. Presenters included Vanness Wu (of F4), Chester Bennington (of Linkin Park), Sri Lankan cricket legend Aravinda de Silva and singer Alston Koch, Bollywood Stars Fardeen Khan and Bipasha Basu, as well as UNICEF's Executive Director, Carole Bellamy. Anyway, the winners are:

I don't wanna have Vanness Wu in the MTV Asia Awards. He is so cheap, cheap and CHEAP! I can't find better word to describe him.

You'll be smacked by those F4's or Vanness's fans for sure! He appeared in the Pepsi commercial for Pepsi Ice & Pepsi Fire, together with Thailand's American-Thai diva, Tata Young, which was shot in North Western China (Xinjiang Province, I think).

I wanna add some remarks: Jennifer Lopez (J. Lo), Jay Chou, Tata Young and the first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson did make appearances on the show, and they were among the many performers of the night. J. Lo performed and danced her way to the beats of her latest single, 'Get Right', while Jay Chou played out his hit single, '7 Miles' with piano and sang to the rhythmic melodies of this soothing song. As for Tata Young, the sassy and elegant American-Thai Diva has chosen to perform her latest English-language song, 'I Believe', while the American Idol kicked the heat up and brought the audience to the climax with her pop-rock single, 'Since U Been Gone'. Besides, the event also featured a specially taped performance by Ronan Keating filmed in Phuket over this last weekend. Celebrities from around the world joined United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in appearing in specially taped messages of support, including 50 Cent, Ashanti, Black Eyed Peas, Bryan Adams, Enrique Iglesias, Franz Ferdinand, Jackie Chan, Jennifer Lopez, Joss Stone, Keane, Moby, Nelly, Ricky Martin, Football Star Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Williams, Shakira, Sting and Zhang Ziyi. The event even broadcasted the horrendous tsunami scenes captured on video and the aftermath of the unprecedented disaster, which were previously being reported widely on the American news network, CNN. What a meaningful night to be remembered!
