Do you like having brothers and sisters, or in other words, SIBLINGS? I'm the only child in my family, which means I have no brothers nor sisters. Maybe you'll think I'm fortunate to be one because nobody will fight over things with me, and that I'll get anything I want. Actually, only some are true. But I'm damn boring being alone in the house all the time! Who can ever understand this situation? It feels so bad when you need someone to talk to in the early morning or in the middle of the night but there's no one you can do that to. You can't phone your friends during this time, unless you wish to be yelled, "Do you know what time is it NOW?!!!"

I have one brother and one sister. All of you may think that I am fortunate because I have a boy and a girl to be my partner. Actually I would rather to be the only child. You don't have to share anything with someone else, you don't have to waste your energy to get them out of your room, you don't have to worry about them touching your properties......and, hehe, nobody will dispute with you about your father's inheritance.
Yeah right...... Here's a debate going on lol...... Those who are the only child will wish for siblings. On the other hand, those who have siblings will wish for no siblings. This debate will never end!

I have an older sister and I'm definitely not going to change anything if i ever could. I'm glad that I have her to accompany me when I'm lonely, cheer me up when I'm sad and share my joy with me when I'm happy. As there're only the two of us, we're very close to each other, I really thank God for giving me such a great sister and I really can't imagine what it'll be like without her, nobody to joke and play with me at home till late at night, I'll be so lonely. No friends will ever be as close to me as I am to my sister, I can tell her all my secrets knowing that she'll never betray me. Lately though, my whole family seems to have splitted up, both my sister and I have gone to study in different places while my parents are alone at home with my dog, I really miss the good old days......
We should look forward, not backward! It's no use pondering the good old days. There are still a lot of challenges waiting ahead of everyone. You'll get used to it soon. You will have to face separation with each other when your sister or even you eventually get married, right? I think it's time for us to learn to be independent, although it might seems too late.

I have one sister and one brother. Quite Ok for me cause they are obidient.( but sometimes can be very naughty). I think I'm lucky enough to have then as my siblings. But I would love to have an older brother. An older brother who will always protect you and sometimes may bully you.

i feel for you man. although i grew up with one brother - so i was very privilaged. being an only child is a terrible thing - you are from Malaysia: do they limit family size there. It seems a lot of Chinese i meet suffer from the "only child syndrome" because they are limited to ONE child per household. i think it is unjust punishment for a child to grow up alone, and they don't learn many social skills they need - what do you think?

i dissagree because an only child never learns to DEAL with those real-life situations. you can't always have things your way - it's a good lesson to learn - siblings are great for that

No. The 'One Child Per Household' policy is only available in China, where the Chinese government intends to control the population explosion in China. Han Chinese in China are limited to only one child per household, while minority ethnic groups in China are limited to two children per household. Due to this birth control plan, India, the current second-most populous nation in the world, will supersede China one day as the most populous nation in the world.
